The Virginia DMV allows enrollment in both public and private school
Drivers Education programs, as well as in Virginia State approved
Driver Training Schools. Both require that a student physically
attends the classroom portion of instruction for no less than 36
periods, and that the student receives at least 14 hours of both
observation and behind-the-wheel instruction.
Virginia Drivers Education, also referred to as Drivers Ed., is
taught in public and private schools in Virginia and at approved
Virginia Driver Training Schools throughout the State and includes both
